Three CHCP Campuses Recognized with National Lamp of Learning Award

April 08 2024

The National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP) has awarded three The College of Health Care Professions campuses the Lamp of Learning Award for certification exam testing excellence. A testament to CHCP’s commitment to ensuring students succeed both on campus and in their careers after graduation, this award acknowledges the perseverance and dedication of students and faculty alike.

“This award acknowledges the hard work by our learners and the faculty and staff, that are constantly providing holistic support,” said Joe Cortez, President of the McAllen Campus of the College of Health Care Professions. “Not only are the efforts of our students critical to their individual success and achieving their professional dreams, but it is also critical to helping bring about positive change in our communities.

NAHP is the premier U.S. credentialing body for healthcare professionals, where CHCP students earn their credentials when they pass the NAHP certification test and graduate. This award goes to institutions whose students' test scores far exceed the national average pass rates. While certification pass scores are the main factors, the qualifications also take into account the campus’ overall academic achievement, the number of exams given throughout the year, and input from NAHP staff members who assist with testing at the testing locations.

The three campuses are:

  • The College of Health Care Professions, McAllen Texas Campus

  • The College of Health Care Professions, Houston TX- Med Center Campus

  • The College of Health Care Professions, Northwest Texas Campus
